I set up the still life for this painting on a wine crate in my back yard so I could try to capture the golden glow of these pineapples in the afternoon light. I draped Kathy’s wool coat from Chicago behind the arrangement to block out my view of a tree (which is the only time the coat has been out of our closet here!) Pineapples are the symbol of hospitality, and we’ve heard that visitors to the gallery will hang this piece in living rooms, dining rooms, and kitchens.
